DEVOTIONAL: “One’s pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.” Proverbs 29:23, ESV.
CHALLENGE: Pride and humility are common topics amongst many Christians. At times we find ourselves more prideful, and other times humble. Kendrick asks us, “Which attitude best describes how you approach God in prayer?” When we humble ourselves before the Lord “we more clearly see our need for God” and “we honestly admit our sin”. But pride “makes us believe we’re more important than we really are” or we are more entitled than we really are. (See Luke 18:9-14.)
Let us always remember the One who created it all. Our “lives are a gift from God and we are underserving of the mercy, grace, and blessings He has given us. Even our accomplishments come only as a result of abilities He’s given us.”
I will repeat the question, a question that even I need to ask myself every time I pray, “Which attitude best describes how you approach God in prayer?”
