Prayer Challenge Fifty-Seven

DEVOTIONAL: “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Jeremiah 33:3, ESV.

CHALLENGE: “The Locks and Keys of Prayer.” Last two weeks we looked at the locks (hindrances) of prayer; today and next week we will look at the keys (aids) of prayer. Kendrick writes, “While the locks of prayer lead us to repent…the keys of prayer launch us forward into vibrant and effective praying.” Many of the keys that Kendrick lists are things we tend to take for granted, or we do not fully understand. The first five keys are “Praying persistently by asking, seeking, and knocking”; “Praying in faith”; “…in secret”; “…according to God’s will”; and “Praying in Jesus’ name”.

(For more detail on these keys of prayer check out chapter 12 of The Battle Plan for Prayer, by Stephen and Alex Kendrick.)

In that past we have looked at some of these, but what do they mean for us today? Do we follow one “key” at a time? Or should we use them all together? “Our natural tendency is to think of God’s will as hidden and mysterious.” What are we doing to change our prayer lives in seeking after God’s will “more genuine, pleasing, and authentic”?
