Prayer Challenge Fifty

DEVOTIONAL: “And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said to him, ‘Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.’” – Luke 1:12-13, ESV.

CHALLENGE: God does not always answer immediately. A good parent knows when a child needs something, or when a request is not appropriate the moment of the request. Kendrick labels this answer as: “Yes, in due time.” He goes on to say, “A delay should not be interpreted as a denial.” Zachariah, the priest, had prayed for a son for many years. Did God deny him this? Perhaps it felt that way, but in due time John the Baptist was born. The old couple’s desire for a child was granted according to God’s will. (See Luke 1:8-25 & 57-66). Is there something that you are constantly praying for? Does God seem to always answer you with a “NO!”? If God lays something on your heart, bring it to Him in prayer. Never give up praying. God wants to hear from His children.
