Prayer Challenge Forty-Nine

DEVOTIONAL: The elders of Israel said, “Now appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations.” God replied, “Now then, obey their voice; only you shall solemnly warn them and show them the ways of the king who shall reign over them.” – 1 Samuel 8:4-9, ESV.

CHALLENGE: When God says “Yes!” Kendrick gives three reasons for God’s “Yes!” answer—the first and third are opposing reasons. (The second we will look at next week.) When we pray and our request lines up perfectly with God’s plan we will receive a “Yes, immediately.” But we can pray and our request does not line up with His will: “Yes, so you’ll learn from it.” This answer can be just as difficult to come to grips with as a “No!” When was the last time God gave you your request as a learning experience? How do you keep yourself humble in your prayer life?
