Prayer Challenge Forty

DEVOTION: “But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness.” ~ Psalm 69:13, ESV.

CHALLENGE: Ultimately the purpose of prayer is God. There are times when we feel the need to pray but really don’t want to. We give God a list of our needs and wants, and we check them off as we speak. This is praying for the sake of praying. The Kendrick brothers tell us, “Prayer is not about prayer”. They give us three definitions (or purposes) for prayer. The first is “Prayer is communion with God in order to… Intimately know, love, and worship Him.” If and when we find ourselves in the situation of list-praying how can we redirect it to become worshipful prayer?
