Devotional: “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” ~ Ephesians 3:14-16, ESV.
Challenge: The Apostle Paul is praying for power for the church at Ephesus. This power is not strength of body or political influence. Instead it comes from above and has a different purpose. D. A. Carson explains, “the nature of this power is…mediated through God’s Spirit.” And it benefits us in a unique way as well. “This power operates in what Paul calls the ‘inner being’.” Paul prays for divine power for the church so God’s will can be manifested in God’s people. What power are we prayer for as a church, as families or as individuals? Are we seeks God’s power to work in us to further His Kingdom?
