Prayer Challenge Thirty-Two

Devotional: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” ~ Matthew 7:7-8, ESV.

Challenge: “Prayer changes things,” writes D. A. Carson. While God is sovereign we, as humans, are “responsible creatures”. How can this work? One may ask. Carson explains this further: “God is absolutely sovereign, but his sovereignty never functions in Scripture to reduce human responsibility.” And on the other side of the coin, “human responsibility never functions in Scripture to diminish God’s sovereignty or to make God absolutely contingent.” God asks us to obey and follow after Jesus Christ. How are we exercising our responsibility in our daily prayer life or Christian life? Do we pray knowing God will answer and change things?
