Devotional: “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” ~ Philippians 1:6, ESV.
Challenge: In overcoming hurdles within churches D. A. Carson gives three clues from one of the Apostle Paul’s prayers. The first is the congregation will need to have “love that ‘abounds more and more in knowledge and depth of insight’”. The second is to discern “what is best” concerning “things that differ” and “superior things”. The third clue is “to understand the content of ‘what is best’”. What is best for any church is Christ Jesus; this goes for the difficult times and the easy times. When we face hurdles we need to refocus our efforts, in prayer and ministry, back to God and Scripture. What aspect of our church in in need of reexamination? Are we constantly in prayer for God’s leading?
