Prayer Challenge Twenty

Devotional: “In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.” ~ Luke 6:12, ESV.

Challenge: Spiritual Disciplines… Christian authors, such as D. A. Carson and Timothy Keller, have shown us various disciplines in regards to a wholesome prayer life. But Carson warns of a danger we may be tempted to fall into from time to time. “The danger in this…is that the person who is formally conforming to such a regime may delude himself or herself into thinking that the discipline is an end in itself…” We should never pray or read the Bible for the sake of praying or reading, they will never “ensure one an exalted place in the heavenlies.” Why do you pray? What do you want to get from this spiritual discipline?
