Prayer Challenge Sixteen

Devotional: “Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word. Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.” ~ Psalm 119:17-18, ESV.

Challenge: Praying Scripture… For Timothy Keller’s third component in his framework on prayer he looks to Martian Luther for inspiration. “After meditating on the Scripture, Luther takes time to ‘pray the text’ before moving on to more free-form prayer.” Praying the text is praying passages you have read or memorized from God’s Word. Keller says using “the text as a basis for praising, repenting, and aspiring—then the meditation itself can be…turned in to prayer.” Knowing the Bible, what God has to say, can help us get closer to Him in different ways. What is your favorite passage in the Bible? How are you using it in your daily prayer life?
