Prayer Challenge Fifteen

Devotion: “Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart.” ~ Psalm 119:1-2, ESV.

Challenge: Your time listening… Timothy Keller’s second component in his framework on prayer is “meditation”. That is to “respond to God in prayer, we must listen to his Word.” In order to listen to God’s Word we must be in God’s Holy Word, but too much time in Bible study can be a mistake. Keller does say, “Serious study of the Bible is something that must be done in order to grow as a Christian, but it is a mistake to spend most of your daily time with God in an in-depth interpretive Bible study.” If we, as Christians, desire a good conversational-relationship with God we need a good balance of listening and speaking, reading and praying. Are you spending time in God’s Word and meditating on it in prayer?
